How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8?

Here’s the information from Microsoft on the problem

Some Web sites may not be displayed correctly or work correctly in Windows Internet Explorer 8. This problem does not occur in earlier versions of Internet Explorer, and the affected Web sites continue to be displayed correctly and to work correctly in Windows Internet Explorer 7.

For example, you may experience any of the following symptoms in Internet Explorer 8:

· Menus, images, or text are in the wrong positions on some Web sites.

· Some Web site features do not work.

· You receive script error messages on some Web sites.

· Internet Explorer stops working or crashes on some Web sites.

Here’s the Microsoft web page describing the problem

If you are having problems viewing the any of the SE Region web pages including the newsletter and route download pages most likely you have upgraded your browser to the new Internet Explorer version 8.

If you have Internet Explorer 8 then read the information below.

All of this information is from Microsoft and in my opinion they’ve released their IE8 without proper testing and it’s causing a lot of problems.

The easiest fix is to revert back to IE7 for a few months and wait for Microsoft to correct their problems with IE8

See How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8? Below.

If you have your Windows update set to automatic (not recommended) Microsoft will automatically update your computer to their latest software often causing problems such as this.

I’d recommend having updates set to “Download Updates for me, but let me choose when to install them”

A few people that could not view the web pages have reverted to IE7 using the information above with success. They also reported that it speeded up their web browsing.
